Radio frequency employs a completely different technique from scalpel surgery and other procedures, and should not be confused with the electro-surgery machine (surgical diathermy) or spark gap circuitry unit (electro cautery). Radio waves use very light cutting. Radio energy travels between the cautery electrode and patient plate using a very high-frequency radio wave that ranges from 0-3-2 Mhz and a thin needle or wire loop electrode that is handled by the surgeon. It is concentrated at the wire loop electrode or needle end, causing the release of energy that causes the cells to create steam, vaporising the cells and slicing the tissues.
